2 Arrested After TV Falls On Baby

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh police say the parents of a one-month-old child were arrested after the infant was injured during a domestic dispute Thursday night.

The incident happened in the 2400-block of Chauncey Drive in the Hill District.

According to police, the baby girl fell while being held during the incident and a television tumbled on her.

Police say the man and woman were arguing when officers arrived at the scene.

"Throwing things around, damaging the contents of the house – a tirade," Pittsburgh Police Sgt. Robert Miller said.

According to police, the baby's grandmother tried to calm down the mother and protect the child.

"The grandmother grabbed the month-and-a-half-old grandchild, tried to protect the grandchild, and in the process of Ms. Bell destroying the interior of the house, grandmother put the grandchild down," says Miller, "and while Ms. Bell was in the process of doing her damage, a television set dropped on top of the month-and-a-half-old child."

The child was taken to Children's Hospital in stable condition with a bruise on the left side on her chest.

The baby's parents were arrested are each charged with two counts of simple assault and one count of recklessly endangering the welfare of a child.
