Down On The Farm

Pittsburgh (KDKA)- One of the Pirates top pitching prospects had a great game last night. We'll tell you about him and check out the performances of other Pirate prospects.

Indianapolis (AAA) beat Toledo, 5-1
*Indy starter Rudy Owens pitched 7 innings, allowing 7 hits, 1 ER, 0 walks and 5 K's. Owens threw 83 pitches, 58 of those were strikes.
*Indy OF Alex Presley went 3-4, and is batting .555 for the season.
*Joe Beimel (on a rehab stint) pitched a scoreless inning, striking out 2 batters.

Altoona (AA) lost to Akron, 6-5
*Altoona CF Starling Marte continued his hot start to the season by going 3-5. Marte is batting .429 for the season. I believe the 23 year old will be the next star to come out of the Pirates farm system. He'll join Jose Tabata and Andrew McCutchen in the Pirates outfield.
*Altoona C Tony Sanchez went 1-5 (.267)
*Altoona starter Aaron Pribanic went 5 innings, allowing 5 hits, 3 runs, walking one and striking out 2 batters.

Bradenton (A) beat Jupiter, 11-8
*Bradenton 2B Jarek Cunningham went 2-5 (double and home run)
*Bradenton OF Evan Chambers went 2-5 (double) and is hitting .333 for the season
*Pirates C Chris Synder (rehab assignment) went 2-4 and is hitting .438
*Bradenton starter Nathan Baker went 6 innings, allowing 9 hits, 5 runs, walking one and striking out 4 batters.
