Karstens Added To Pirates Rotation

Pittsburgh (KDKA)- Forget Brad Lincoln, Rudy Owens or Brian Burres, the new member of the Pirates rotation will be RHP Jeff Karstens.

Pirates manager Clint Hurdle announced today that Karstens will replace the injured Ross Ohlendorf in the Pirates starting rotation.

Ohlendorf was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday because of a posterior strain in his right shoulder.

Due to the rainout tonight vs. Milwaukee, Karstens won't make his first start until one of the three games in the Cincinnati series.

With Ohlendorf not scheduled to come off the disabled list until after April 23rd, Karstens will make 2-3 starts.

With Karstens out of the bullpen, Daniel McCutchen will take over his role as the club's primary long reliever.
