Charged CAPA Teacher To Enter Treatment Facility

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A local school teacher facing charges in connection to a bank robbery and laptop thefts will go into rehab.

Philicia Barbieri, a former chemistry teacher at CAPA High School in Pittsburgh, had her bond reduced.

She will be released from the Allegheny County Jail into the custody the Ellen O'Brien Gaiser Center, an in-patient facility, in Butler County.

Pittsburgh police say Barbieri developed a heroin addiction after a car accident six months ago. They say her addiction led to her allegedly stealing 10 to 15 laptops from the high school.

She and her boyfriend, Alvin Carter, are also accused of robbing Fifth Third Bank on Penn Circle in East Liberty.

Barbieri is facing charges of bank robbery, conspiracy and theft.
