Woman Accused Of Leaving Elderly Husband To Stand Trial

By Trina Orlando

JEANNETTE (KDKA) -- A Jeannette woman accused of leaving her elderly husband alone in a filthy home while she went to visit her boyfriend is now headed to trial.

Kathleen LaTourette, 55, waived her preliminary hearing on a charge of reckless endangerment.

Her daughter, Teresa, asked police to file the charges after finding her father, 87-year-old John LaTourette, living in deplorable condition inside the couple's Gaskill Avenue home.

John LaTourette was reportedly not wearing any clothes and there were animal feces throughout the home.

Defense attorney Jerome Tierney says it is a bad situation for all involved and they are hoping to resolve it without any more hardship for the family.

John LaTourette is now living at Westmoreland Manor where family members say he is getting the care that he needs.
