Steelers 5th Round Draft Pick Looks Forward to Opportunity

PITTSBURGH (Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN) -- Newly drafted Pittsburgh Steeler, outside linebacker Chris Carter from Fresno State joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN to talk about what draft day was like for him and his brother David, who was drafted this year in the 6th round.  Chris described to us what it was like growing up having a brother that was as talented as him and how competitive they were with each other.

When it came to getting drafted by the Steelers, Chris said he was thrilled to get the opportunity to learn from guys already on the team like LaMarr Woodley and James Harrison, two of the best in the game.  We also had Chris tell us about his favorite team growing up and what it felt like getting drafted by an organization with as rich of a history as the Steelers.  Chris admitted he watched a lot of Steelers games growing up in Los Angeles because his uncle was a die-hard Steelers fan, so he has a good idea of what he is coming in to.

While watching those Steelers games with his uncle, Chris said he quickly became a big fan of Steelers Safety Troy Polamalu and used his jersey No. 43 as his own.  When it came to deciding what number he would wear in the pros, Chris said he'll have to find a new number since 43 is already taken on this team.

We wrapped things up with Chris by discussing his strengths and special teams play which should help his chances of getting on the field quicker.
