Friends In Shock After Shooting Death Of Art Student

McKEES ROCKS (KDKA) -- The search for suspects continues after a shooting claimed the life of a 20-year-old student in McKees Rocks early Sunday morning.

According to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office, Malachi Urbini died of gunshot wounds to the trunk.

The shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of 3rd and Amelia Streets. Authorities say several shots were fired.

Urbini, an Art Institute of Pittsburgh student from the Robinson Township area, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital and pronounced dead around 4:30 a.m.

Urbini's death has left the friends he grew up with in a state of shock. They say he was a talented artist.

"Just complete shock really," said Aubree Postufka, Urbini's friend. "I mean, you grow up with kids and you hear this kind of news, and just considering the holiday, it's just, it's so sad. I just would have never expected to hear his name."

"When I heard the news I was just like, 'Oh my God, no way.' I didn't believe it at first," added Tara Marberger, another friend of the victim. "It's just a shock. We grew up with this kid. We saw him change from like that person who was so artistic and quiet to that person who was always fun, always happy, always with his friends."

Allegheny County Police along with the police department in McKees Rocks are investigating the shooting. So far, no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information on the incident is being asked to contact police.
