K-9 Officer Catches Carrick Burglary Suspect

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A Zone 3 police dog helped take down a suspected burglar in Carrick.

The dog bit the 17-year-old suspect on the arm and thigh as he was trying to outrun officers in the 2600-block of Churchview Avenue.

"I woke up and I heard, 'Get on the ground! Get on the ground!'"
Richard Schneeman said. "I looked and they had a guy pinned down in the back yard with a dog."

Police say the burglar broke into a basement apartment, stealing store keys and a cell phone.

Officers searched the area for a possible second suspect, but only the 17-year-old was taken into custody.
