Flooding Concerns Close Mon Wharf

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Rainy days have become a constant around the area this spring, which has caused rivers and streams to swell.

Due to all the recent rain and the additional storms expected through the remainder of the work week, the Mon Wharf has been forced to close.

According to the Public Parking Authority of Pittsburgh, the Mon Wharf was closed on Wednesday and will remain closed through Saturday.

The Ohio River is expected to rise and crest at 20.4 inches Thursday morning. The Mon Wharf begins to flood when the river reaches 18 feet.

At 19 feet, water begins flowing on the North Shore Riverwalk.

The Tenth Street Bypass should remain open as it doesn't take on water until the river rises to 22 feet.

Motorists are being encouraged to use the First Avenue Garage and Second Avenue Plaza as alternate parking lots.
