Woman Charged After Children Eat Marijuana-Laced Margarine

UPPER BURRELL TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A local woman will stand trial on charges that she fed marijuana-laced margarine to a 12-year-old-girl and two other children at her home.

The girl's mother called Upper Burrell Township Police after finding the drugs in a tub of "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter."

Police say 22-year-old Stevie Hickey spread the substance on two pieces of toast and gave it to the children, allegedly telling them it was "parsley butter."

Later, she admitted she learned the "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" marijuana recipe on the Internet.

KDKA's Paul Martino reports Hickey had her own 3-year-old and 1-month-old child living in her apartment. They have now been removed from her home.

Hickey faces misdemeanor child endangerment and drug charges. She's free on her own recognizance while awaiting child. Her children are in her father's custody.

If she is convicted, she will not face jail time.
