New Details In Gonzalez Suspension

Pittsburgh (KDKA)- We have new details which reportedly led to the suspension of Pitt backup quarterback Anthony Gonzalez.

Late last night, the University of Pittsburgh announced that Gonzalez had been suspended for violation of team rules. No other details were given by the school.

However, a newspaper report is shedding some light on why Gonzalez is in trouble with Graham.

Bill Kline from The Morning Call, reports that Bethlehem (PA.) police said that Gonzalez was arrested early Friday on a charge of marijuana possession in Bethlehem. Gonzalez and two other men were arrested at 12:46 a.m. Friday at E. 3rd and Hobart streets in Bethlehem, police said. All three men are 19 and from Bethlehem, police said.

The other two men are Jarrod West, who will be cited for underage drinking, according to police, and Jamyl Aminu, arrested on a charge of marijuana possession, police said.

Gonzalez and Aminu are being charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, police said. The charges will be filed with a district magistrate next week, police said.

Gonzalez was named Pitt's most improved player following spring practice.

No word on how long the suspension will last and how this will affect his status on the quarterback depth chart.
