What Memorial Day Means To One Local Family
PITTSBURGH (NEWSRADIO 1020 KDKA) -- Many of us may think of Memorial Day as a chance for a long weekend filled with barbecues and pool openings, but to the families of those who have gone to war and never came back, this holiday is a painful reminder of their loss.
Staff Sergeant Justin Schmalstieg, originally from Stanton Heights, was killed in Afghanistan on Dec. 15, 2010, while trying to disarm an explosive device.
