PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — You may have a recipe for meatballs; but we’re guessing it’s nothing like this one from “Snaffles” creator Dick Augenstein! The retired art teacher puts a new twist on the culinary creation — by adding pretzels!

SNAFFLES Meat Ball Recipe
2 Servings

1-2 oz. bag of snaffles hot and spicy sour dough mini pretzels
1/2 lb. lean ground beef. 96/4
1 egg
1 8 oz. can of tomato sauce
2 to 3 tablespoons grated parmesan or romano cheese

Mixing Directions:
In a blender grind the pretzels to a fine consistency
Combine the egg and ground beef and then fold in the processed Snaffles. Be sure to mix thoroughly.

Form 8 meatballs and place them in a small baking dish so that they touch each other. One layer only.

Pour tomato sauce over and around the meat balls and then sprinkle the graded cheese on top.

Bake uncovered at 425 degrees for 30 minutes
