Tomlin's Youth Football Camp Begins

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Mike Tomlin's Pro Football Camp kicked-off today at Brashear High School.

At 9 a.m., more than 200 boys and girls ages seven to 14 took the field with Tomlin to experience hours of expert instruction, by participating in games, skill contests and more.

Coach Tomlin himself will give instructional talks emphasizing the finer points of the game of football as the campers gain knowledge and an opportunity of a lifetime.

"Man, we having a great time today," Tomlin said. "We got some corporate sponsors out here. We are providing a free camp for a lot of the kids that under other circumstances wouldn't be given this opportunity."

The campers get a camp T-shirt along with an autographed team photo with Coach Tomlin.

Tomlin said it is more difficult to coach the young kids compared to his NFL players.

"You can assume some things when you coach bigger guys," Tomlin said. "You can't assume anything when you're working with some of the little ones. It really tests you as a coach. It's really been inspiring."

Although the camp ends Friday at 12:30 p.m., the participants will leave the camp with some skills of a true Steelers player.
