Shea-ved Ice: Penguins Release Preseason Schedule

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – While the Stanley Cup was only awarded a few days ago, it's never too soon to look ahead to next season.

Injuries to key players such as Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin certainly hampered the Pittsburgh Penguins' Stanley Cup chances during the 2010-11 season.

However, the hope of their full recovery and return to the lineup next season has many fans (myself included) dreaming of a fourth Stanley Cup title.

On Monday, the team released their preseason schedule which will feature two games against the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks.

The Penguins will open up their six-game preseason schedule by hosting the Red Wings at 7 p.m. on Sept. 21. It will be the first of three consecutive home games at CONSOL Energy Center.

Pittsburgh's other two games will be against the Minnesota Wild and a neutral site game against the Los Angeles Kings in Kansas City.

The entire schedule is as follows:

  • Sept. 21 vs. Detroit at 7 p.m.
  • Sept 22 vs Chicago at 7 p.m.
  • Sept. 24 vs. Minnesota at 3 p.m.
  • Sept. 27 at Los Angeles (in Kansas City) at 8 p.m.
  • Sept. 30 at Chicago at 8 p.m.
  • Oct. 2 at Detroit at 4 p.m.
