Surveillance Video Captures Rankin Shooting

RANKIN (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a man was shot twice in Rankin Tuesday morning.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of Building 5 at the Palisades Plaza Apartments around 8 a.m.

The victim is a 19-year-old man.

"We believe the victim and his girlfriend were waiting at this bus stop when the actor's vehicle pulled up. The actor exited the vehicle and chased the victim for a short distance, firing the whole time," Allegheny County Police Lieutenant Andrew Schurman said.

The victim is not from the area. He ran through apartment buildings trying to get away.

He suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and leg and was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital. He is in serious condition.

No arrests have been made, but police are reviewing a video tape that captured the incident.

The shooter was a passenger in a light blue or silver Buick Lesabre which circled the apartment complex after the shooting before crossing the Rankin Bridge toward West Mifflin.

The driver's side front hubcap is missing on the car.

Allegheny County Police ask anyone with information to call 412-473-1300.
