State Police Stage 'Active Shooter' Drill At Local High School

COMMODORE (KDKA) -- State police staged what they call an active shooter drill at a local high school.

It was a chance for them to practice their response in the event of a real school shooting.

The scenario was two shooters in Purchase Line High School with gunshots ringing out. There were injured teachers in the hall and students running for their lives.

State police with guns drawn made their way through the halls of the school, practicing how they would locate a gunman. They also practiced their communication with a mobile 911 dispatch center.

Purchase Line High School volunteered to host the drill, providing teachers with training they hope will never be needed.

These drills are typically held once a year, but State police are hoping to hold more drills at more schools in the future.
