300,000 Enjoy Fourth Of July Fireworks Downtown

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – An estimated 300,000 people watched the Fourth of July fireworks celebration from Point State Park and the North Shore.

The 24-minute show was staged by Pyrotecnico from New Castle and planning for it started months ago.

Pyrotecnico used tens of thousands of shells to light up the sky and the water Monday night.

The show is one of the top 10 in the country and cost more than $100,000.

Pyrotecnico will be back next year as well after signing a two-year deal with the Regatta prior to this year.

The fireworks display wrapped up the EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta.

A downpour earlier in the night had many people who arrived early for the fireworks running for cover, but it seem to do little to thin the crowd.

Police responded to at least one minor fight downtown.
