Kovacevic: A "Symbolic" Home Run
PITTSBURGH ((3-7 THE FAN) -- Pittsburgh Tribune-Review columnist Dejan Kovacevic joined 93-7 "Late Shift" host Chris Mueller Friday night to provide some historical perspective on catcher Mike McKenry's three-run home run, which pushed the Pirates to a 7-4 win over the Chicago Cubs at PNC Park and ultimately left them just one game out of first in the National League's Central Division.
Dejan offers a scathing indictment of Major League Baseball as a whole for not giving the amazing 2011 Pirates, in his opinion, the national attention they deserve.
A longtime Pirates beat reporter prior to his current job, he measures McKenry's blast against some of the more memorable moments in the decade-long history of PNC Park.
