LIGONIER (KDKA) – A man from Texas is in police custody accused in a deadly shooting at a restaurant in Westmoreland County last night.
According to police, the shooting happened around 6 p.m. at Fat Daddy’s Place on Route 30 in Ligonier after an argument over a television channel.
Investigators say two men were allegedly arguing over a television channel when the suspect got up, went to his truck and returned with a shotgun.
Other customers wrestled the gunman to the ground after the shooting and restrained him until police arrived.
“I went in there. I handcuffed the bad guy – the subject. Once he was handcuffed, I asked if everyone was okay. They told me there was a victim on the other side of the bar. Unfortunately, the victim did not make it,” Ligonier Police Chief John Berger said.
The coroner identified the victim as Donald Holler, 65, of Cook Township.
The suspect was taken into custody. Police have also seized his truck. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review has identified him as Stephen Fromholz, 40, of San Antonio.
At least 12 customers and three employees were inside the restaurant at the time of the shooting. There were no other reported injuries.
