Chase Suspect Crashes Into Penn Hills House

PENN HILLS (KDKA) -- A man is in custody following a police chase that ended in a crash.

Police tried to stop the stolen car starting in Homewood, but the pursuit led to Penn Hills.

The driver tried to make a turn onto Bon Air Road, but ended up plowing right into the house in the 9900-block of Frankstown in Penn Hills.

The violent impact sent people running from homes and business, including Lindsay Kirk, who works at a market next door.

"But he crashed into the house," she said. "But those people just moved out about a week ago, thank goodness. But he crashed into the house onto a gas meter. As soon as the police figured out there was a gas meter, they told everybody, 'Turn around. Don't come this way.'"

The busy road was shut down for nearly 40 minutes while police pulled the injured man from behind the wheel and took him into custody.
