Community Mourns Passing Of Bethel Park Superintendent

BETHEL PARK (KDKA) – The Bethel Park School District is mourning the death of Superintendent Dr. Thomas A. Knight.

According to a press release from the school district, Knight passed away on Friday.

Knight became the 11th superintendent of the school district on Dec. 13, 2005.

"His leadership style was simple, direct and effective. He treated everyone with warmth and respect, and he supported his staff with his words and actions. Every decision he made was well thought-out and based primarily on the best interests of our students, staff and community," Assistant Superintendent Nancy Aloi Rose said in a statement.

Prior to coming to the Bethel Park School District, he served as the superintendent of the East Allegheny School District.

Details of his death were not available.

Final arrangements have not been finalized, but the viewing will take place this week at the Mariscotti Funeral Home in California, Pa.
