2 Charged After Double Shooting City's Larimer Section

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Two men have been charged in a double shooting in Pittsburgh's Larimer neighborhood.

The victims, a 31-year-old man from Penn Hills and a 37-year-old woman from Monroeville, were shot in the 600-block of Lowell Street while they were inside their SUV, turning onto Rapidan Way at about 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The woman was shot in the back and was last listed in critical condition at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. The man was shot in the leg.

While driving to the hospital, Zone 5 police pulled over the victims in a Dodge Durango for speeding on East Liberty Boulevard. That's when authorities learned about the shooting.

During their initial investigation, the SWAT team was called to a home at 547 Lowell Street. The residence was secured without incident and several people were removed from the scene in handcuffs.

Pittsburgh Police have arrested and filed charges against Diron Hopwood and D'Andre Evans, both 18 and from Larimer.

They are facing two counts each of criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and one count of carrying a firearm without a license.

Hopwood and Evans are in the Allegheny County Jail.
