1 Dead, 2 Injured In Indiana Co. Accident

CONEMAUGH (KDKA) – One person was killed in a Saturday night car accident in Indiana County.

According to State Police, the accident happened on State Route 286 in Conemaugh around 8:40 p.m.

A 44-year-old man driving a 1989 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling west on State Route 286 when he attempted to pass a Corvette.

During the attempted pass, the Camaro crashed head-on into a 2002 Hyundai Elantra being driven by 18-year-old Melinda Miller.

Miller suffered major injuries in the crash, while 23-year-old passenger Manas Troyer suffered minor injuries.

According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, both were flown to Pittsburgh hospitals, but their conditions are unknown at this time.

The driver of the Camaro has been identified as Gerald Halldin Jr.

Halldin was pronounced dead at the scene.

A third vehicle suffered undercarriage damage due to the debris from the accident.
