New Sea Lion Pup Named After Former Pittsburgh Mayor
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium's newest addition was named Monday morning.
Gov. Tom Corbett was in town to name the sea lion pup after a former Pittsburg mayor.
The new sea lion pup will be named Sophie, in honor of Sophie Masloff.
According to a press release, the pup was born on June 10 and will be moving to the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, D.C. with her mom, Callie, next spring.
Sophie is the third sea lion pup to be born at the zoo in the last three years.
Callie has been at the zoo since October of 2009 while a new habitat was being constructed in Washington, D.C.
