Pit Bull Attacks 15-Month-Old Girl In Millvale

MILLVALE (KDKA) -- A 15-month-old toddler girl was attacked by a pit bull in Millvale.

This happened in the 400-block of North Avenue at about 7:40 p.m. Neighbors came running when they heard the baby and her father screaming.

"He told me that the dog had attacked the baby," Kayleigh Komorofski, a neighbor, said. "He went to go move the pit bull – it had broken off its chain. He went to go and move the dog so the mom could come get paint and the dog turned around and attacked her."

Witnesses say the baby was bitten in her arm and face. The tip of her nose was left dangling. Her father was bitten in the hand. Her pregnant mother was so distraught that a neighbor had to care for the baby until paramedics arrived.

Neighbors say the dog is aggressive and they're not surprised this happened.

If Animal Control doesn't take the dog, neighbors say they're worried this will happen again.

"So what if the dog were to get over the fence and come after one of our dogs or my daughter or one of the other kids who constantly play out here," Komorofski said.

The toddler and her father were taken to the hospital. There's no word on their conditions.

The dog belonged to an upstairs neighbor of the family.
