Carjacking In West Mifflin Under Investigation

WEST MIFFLIN (KDKA) -- Police continue to search for a suspect after a woman was carjacked Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of the Walmart in West Mifflin.

Investigators say it happened after 3 p.m. and the suspect managed to get away after crashing the victim's car a short time later.

The victim, Nicole Grilli says she was leaving her job at the McDonald's inside the Walmart when it happened.

"I didn't look in my mirrors and some guy came running up behind me," said Grilli. "My windows were down and he reached in the car and opened the car door and said, 'Get the (expletive deleted) out or I'll (expletive deleted) kill you.'"

Police describe the suspect as an African America male, about five-foot-one or five-feet-two-inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds.

According to police, he jumped into Grilli's car after he reportedly stole a bag of merchandise from inside the Walmart store.

"It's like I frozen, I went into shock. I just looked at him; I latched onto my purse and he pulled me out of the car and threw me on the ground," she said. "I had my purse, he didn't even seem interested in my purse or me, just the car; you could tell he had stolen stuff in his hands."

Authorities say the suspect then took off in the car, and crashed into a used car lot at Mifflin and Lebanon Roads. Police believe he may have run into a nearby creek and they lost his trail from there.

Anyone with information is being asked to call police.
