Fatal North Side Shooting Probed

NORTH SIDE (KDKA) – Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed on the North Side Tuesday night.

According to police, the shooting happened in the 100-block of Rhine Place in the Spring Hill section around 10 p.m.

Police were called to the scene for reports of shots being fired. The victim had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Dante Beasley.

"I thought I heard at least eight to 10 gunshots. We just fell to the floor and ijust told my nieces, 'Everybody just get down on the floor.' That's no] way to live," one woman said. "I wish I could move today."

News of the shooting has left a wake of fear among other residents in the housing complex.

"My son said to me one day, 'Mom you feel like you have to pick sides or something. You can't be a good guy. You can't just go to school and make something of your life because depending on where you live at, you have to have protection,'" another woman said.

No arrests have been made and anyone with information is asked to call Pittsburgh Homicide Office at (412)-323-7161.

This is the third deadly shooting within the city in 48 hours.
