Father Accused Of Giving 14-Year-Old Son Alcohol

By Kym Gable

BURGETTSTOWN (KDKA) -- State police have filed charges against a man whose 14-year-old son nearly died from alcohol poisoning.

That's according to other police sources familiar with the investigation.

Bannon Myers, 41, faces counts of reckless endangerment and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

His son, Shane, was found passed out in the backyard of his uncle's home on Route 18 in Burgettstown Sunday morning.

They were visiting from Tennessee. But homeowner Brian Myers says the boy snuck off with the alcohol himself after everyone went to bed and after his dad passed out in the basement.

He insists his brother, Bannon, did not drink with his son. That father faces a hearing next week.
