In Shaler, the flames broke out before 6 a.m. in a second floor apartment on Butler Plank Road.

The blaze forced people from the building.

There were no reports of any injuries. The cause is under investigation.

Meanwhile, fire erupted at a house in Homestead around 6:30 a.m.

Emergency officials say the home is located in the 300-block of East 16th Street.

KDKA's Heather Abraham reports from the scene that two police officers, one from Homestead and the other from Munhall, rescued a woman with a disability from the home. Her husband and children were also able to get out of the residence safely.

There is no word yet on what sparked the fire.
