1 Killed In Westmoreland County Crash
DERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – One person was killed in a late Monday night accident in Westmoreland County.
According to State Police, the accident happened on State Route 1020 in Derry Township around 11:15 p.m.
The driver of a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt lost control while negotiating a left curve in the road. The vehicle went off the road, up an embankment and sideswiped a utility pole.
After hitting the pole the car launched into the air, landed on its side and began to roll several times.
Kelly Vinkler, 34, was ejected from the vehicle and landed in the roadway.
A man riding a motorcycle saw the accident happening and attempted to avoid it by laying down the bike.
The motorcycle slid across Vinkler, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
