Steelers Trim Roster Down To 84 Players

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Steelers only have a couple of days left to trim their roster down to 80 players.

On Sunday, the team made several roster moves to get closer to that number.

One player was placed on the injured reserve list and five others were released.

According to the Steelers, tight ends Vaughn Charlton and Miguel Chavis were released.

Cornerback Kevin Dockery and wide receivers Eric Greenwood and Kenneth Moore were also released.

Rookie running back Baron Batch suffered a season-ending knee injury during training camp and has been placed on injured reserve.

These moves bring the total number of players on the roster to 84. They have until 4 p.m. on Tuesday to make the final cuts.

One of those four active roster spots currently belongs to quarterback Byron Leftwich.

However, the Steelers will likely place him on injured reserve after he broke his left arm against the Falcons Saturday night.
