Steamy Temperatures, Sporadic Storms Move In For Holiday Weekend

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Hot, steamy weather and sporadic thunderstorms make a return to the Pittsburgh area for the holiday weekend.

KDKA meteorologist Dennis Bowman says today's forecast includes occasional thunderstorms with a mix of sun and clouds. Storms should end by mid-afternoon with a high of 88.

Bowman says skies will become partly cloudy tonight. It will also turn mild with a low of 66 degrees.

However, he says we are in for a steamy weekend.

On Friday, we will see partly sunny as well as warm and humid conditions with a thunderstorm in spots. The high will be 92 degrees.

On Saturday, Bowman says much of the time we will be dry with a couple of hit-and-miss thunderstorms and a high near 90. A cold front could set off severe storms late Saturday and into Sunday.

Bowman says scattered thunderstorms are in the forecast on Sunday afternoon with a high of 83.

Then on Labor Day, the temperature will be much cooler with highs in the mid-70s and just a chance of a shower.
