PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — The district attorney’s office has filed a theft charge against a local priest who’s accused of stealing more than $143,000 from a parish in Swissvale.

Father Francis Drabiska turned himself in to authorities to face the charges against him.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Father Drabiska, the pastor of Word of God parish, confessed to taking the money to live a lifestyle beyond his means.

The criminal complaint goes on to say that Drabiska signed a statement admitting the stole “between approximately $125,000 to $180,999 in loose cash” from the collection basket between 1999 through 2009.

Drabiska was arraigned and released on a non-monetary bond. A hearing date has not yet been set.
