A Tribute to Veterans
The annual Veterans Leadership Program of Western Pennsylvania (VLP), "Tribute to Veterans" event will take place at Carnegie Music Hall on October 20, 2011. Proceeds from the "Tribute to Veterans" event go directly to providing housing, employment and supportive services to local service members, veterans and their families. In 2010 the event was attended by over 900 individuals and raised critically needed funding to support local heroes and their families.
As is tradition, VLP will honor local heroes from the current wars in Iraqand Afghanistan, veterans and those who have made meaningful contributions to our community and country, while also remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. The following awards will be presented at the event on October 20th:
- Veteran of the Year, Governor Tom Corbett
- Senator John Heinz Community Advocate Award, John Lukacs, Author Escape FromDavao
- Chairman's Award, Abie Abraham, World War II Veteran, survivor of the Bataan Death March, Japanese POW
- Chairman's Award (Posthumous), Sgt. Ryan H. Lane USMC
Reservations for the 22nd annual Tribute to Veterans, can be made online here or by calling 1-888-71-TICKETS (1-888-718-4253). Donations to attend are $50 per person. As a result of the generous support of the business community, VLP is able to provide complimentary admission to all uniformed personnel on Active Duty, in the National Guard or Reserve, as well as students and children.
