New TV Season Promises Surprises & Big Changes

PITTSBURGH (NEWSRADIO 1020 KDKA) -- What shows will be hot this TV season? How will big changes like on "Two and a Half Men" affect ratings? What will you be watching?

KDKA AM's Larry Richert talks to TV and Pop Culture expert Dr. Robert Thompson about what shows are expected to do well, which ones are duds, and what new lineups will do to your TV viewing.

They discuss a number of different shows including "2 Broke Girls," "Pan Am" and "The Playboy Club."

"A Gifted Man" Patrick Wilson's Guide to Pittsburgh The star of the new CBS show "A Gifted Man," is a tried-and-true Pittsburgh fan. From his alma mater of Carnegie Mellon University to his "other" favorite NFL team the Steelers -- Wilson knows his way around the 'Burgh.

But Thompson says he's waiting for the new look on "Two and a Half Men."

"I have to say, of all the new shows coming out, I'm actually most interested in seeing how 'Two and a Half Men' is going to look with [Ashton Kutcher] on it. I liked that show a lot, I don't think it was for kids. It was very vulgar but it was a really funny show, and I think Charlie Sheen was good on it but, you know, I think it was wearing out. I think that they've done with that character what they needed to, and I think maybe it was a piece of good luck that Charlie Sheen is leaving," said Dr. Thompson. "That show was a good program and having a new character with a new dynamic and some new stuff to write for might just be what the doctor ordered. If that works out, I could see that show going for another five seasons."
