State Police: Suspect In Custody In Salem Twp. Shooting

SALEM TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – State police say they now have a suspect in custody after a woman was shot multiple times outside of her home early Saturday morning in Westmoreland County.

According to state police, the incident happened in the 100-block of Aviation Lane in Salem Township around 5:55 a.m.

Authorities have identified the victim as 27-year-old Anamarie Henderson of Export. Officials report that she is listed in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the abdomen.

State police say her boyfriend, 44-year-old Darnell Redman of Greensburg, has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting. He was reportedly found in Harrisburg.

"It was a scary situation especially in this town, in this neighborhood," said Rich Belin, a neighbor. "This doesn't happen around here."

It happened right outside Henderson's home.

State police say Henderson was sleeping in her car, then got out and was shot in her driveway. A neighbor reportedly told police that Henderson told her "Darnell did it."

"I was lying in bed and I heard pop, pop, pop, pop," said Belin. "It woke me up out of a dead sleep."

Just last month, Henderson's brother - Anthony Henderson - and his girlfriend were killed at a home in Washington Township.

It's not clear how they died, but a man with a baseball bat was seen at the home. Police haven't said if they believe that homicide is related to the shooting of Anamarie Henderson.

Redman is currently being held in the Westmoreland County Prison.
