Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Suri Visit Soergel Orchards

WEXFORD (KDKA) -- Soergel's Orchard during the fall festival is a children's wonderland.

Every weekend families pack this place in search of pumpkins for decorating, apples for eating and a little taste of the country in the heart of the suburbs.

On Sunday, Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and their daughter, Suri, arrived unannounced.

"The little girl – she's cute as a button," says Reed Soergel. "Most of the customers who were here did not know it because there was no big following."

In fact, the Cruise family was accompanied by only a couple of very discrete bodyguards who kept their distance.

"Suri had her face painted. She played in our little straw pile that the kids were all playing in – jumping around in straw and then they took a horse drawn wagon ride with my husband and I," says Katie Morrison who is part of the Soergel family.

While on the Conestoga wagon ride around the orchard property, Cruise and Holmes had plenty of questions for the Morrisons.

"We just talked to them the entire time, and they were asking about the family and the farm and very interested in what we do here," said Morrison.

Her impression of Cruise?

"He was super down to earth, very friendly, very willing to talk to everybody, shake their hand. We tried to not swarm them so they could enjoy their afternoon here and [they] just really seemed to enjoy themselves."

Katie Holmes and Suri were also spotted over the weekend at Ross Park Mall enjoying a little creativity together in the Build-A-Bear workshop.

Tom Cruise is in Pittsburgh to produce and star in the film adaptation of Lee Child's "One Shot."

The book is one in a series featuring tough guy-investigator Jack Reacher who Cruise will portray in the film.
