Dog Walker Unofficially Sets New World Record

NEW KENSINGTON (KDKA) -- An old newsroom adage goes like this: "Dog bites man, that's not news. Man bites dog, this is news."

But what about, "Man walks dogs?" It all depends on how many.

Dog trainer Joe Orsino and 35 canines have been rehearsing to set a Guinness World Record.

Saturday morning at the Heinz Field River Park, the owner of "Mr. O's: The Dog Training Place" in New Kensington walked them all simultaneously. He completed nine laps with the dogs to unofficially break the record.

Video of the event is being sent to Guinness for verification and he'll get the official word in three-to-four weeks.

The stroll will take place as part of the annual 5K Lupus Foundation Fundraiser.

"When we're walking, we're 28 feet wide," he says. "If we could walk in a straight line that would be great, but what has to happen now is we have to make left turns. We have to turn this crowd. We'll have to do maybe eight to 10 loops."
