Shootout Probed In McKees Rocks

MCKEES ROCKS (KDKA) -- Police are investigating a shootout on a busy McKees Rocks street.

It happened near Cogo's on Highland Avenue.

McKees Rocks Police Chief Robert Cifrulak told KDKA-TV investigators believe one man fired five shots from one gun while the other man fired six shots.

The two men were walking by each other on Island Avenue, pulled out weapons and started shooting.

One man went into a tattoo shop and said he was wounded. He left before police arrived at the scene.

Cifrulak says authorities learned of the shooting after a driver pulled over at a gas station in Esplen and said his back window was shot out.

They believe his car was hit by a stray bullet.

Police from several departments, including Kennedy, Stowe, Ohio Township and Allegheny County Police are investigating.

They are reviewing surveillance video and hope to release a picture on Thursday.

While no one is in custody, police believe they know the identity of one of the men.
