Neal Huntington Is On Board With Pedro Alvarez Not Playing Winter Ball

Pirates General Manager Neal Huntington joined Seibel, Starkey and Miller on Sportsradio 93.7 The FAN to talk about the teams needs going into the offseason, and what they;ll be doing to fill some of their needs.

Huntington discussed Paul Maholm's contract situation saying that the team doesn't plan on exercising his option for next season.

One key to the teams offseason is Pedro Alvarez, and Huntington said the team supported his decision to not go to Winter Ball.  Going into Spring Training Alvarez will be the starting third baseman, but the team will have plans in place incase he isn't ready to contribute at the big league level.
