Coping With The Loss Of An Officer

NewsRadio 1020 KDKA's Rose Ryan-Douglas and Paul Rasmussen talk with Melanie Karpinski, president of Concerns of Police Survivors (COPS), on the KDKA Afternoon News.

Karpinski discusses the shooting death of Lower Burrell police officer Derek Kotecki, recalling the grieving process faced by the family and friends of a fallen officer. 

Karpinski lost a brother herself in the line of duty, and her organization was formed to provide short- and longterm care  and support for the survivors of slain officers.
