2 Workers Burned In Apparent Explosion
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Two employees were burned in an apparent explosion in Lawrenceville.
This happened at McConway & Torley Corp., a foundry, in the 100-block of 48th Street.
The explosion reportedly happened in the furnace.
The two workers were taken to Central Medical, an urgent care facility, in Sharpsburg and then later transferred to West Penn Hospital.
They were burned on their face and chest after sources say there was a furnace explosion around 2 p.m.
OSHA was on the scene with Pittsburgh Arson investigators.
This is the second incident involving OSHA at the facility in the past six months.
Last July, a 51-year-old assembly line worker from the North Side was killed when he was struck by a piece of machinery. It was ruled an accidental death.
