Alligator At Beaver Run Reservoir Remains Elusive

BELL TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – The alligator at the Beaver Run Reservoir in Westmoreland County is apparently still on the loose.

According to a spokesperson for the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium, about 15 people went out in four boats trying to catch the elusive gator to no avail.

However, crews did see something.

"They did find what they believe to be tracks in several locations that could belong to the alligator," Tracy Gray, public relations manager for the zoo, said in a statement.

The zoo partnered with the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County to save the gator after it was reported that someone spotted it in the reservoir earlier this month.

The MAWC originally planned to not pursue the gator, but changed course after public outcry for the gator's welfare.
