Expert Offers Tips For A Healthier Halloween
PITTSBURGH (NEWSRADIO 1020 KDKA) -- When it comes to holiday overeating, few traditions can compete with the ceremonial candy binge that comes with Halloween night.
But with sky-high rates of obesity and heart disease reaching across the country, some experts are looking for healthier alternatives to chocolaty treats.
Dietician Leslie Bonci assures NewsRadio 1020 KDKA's Larry Richert and John Shumway that she's not trying to spoil anyone's Halloween, but is simply searching for healthier alternatives to candy high in calories, sodium, and saturated fat.
Bonci, the director of the Sports Nutrition Program at the UPMC Center for Sports Medicine and Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, offers suggestions for health-conscious parents, and discusses which five candies are the worst of the worst for you this Halloween.
