WASHINGTON, Pa. (KDKA) – A water main break has significantly damaged a road in Washington County.

According to Councilman Matt Staniszewski, the break happened near the intersection of Spruce and College Streets around midnight.

Staniszewski described the damage to the road as "a small war zone."

Crews are on the scene and are working to repair the break.

According to Pennsylvania American Water Company, one house and one business were affected by the break.

Service should be restored by Wednesday afternoon and there are plans to pave the street after the repairs are made.
