After announcing a second round of open tryouts would be held during the Pittsburgh Steelers' bye week, the Pittsburgh Power quietly kept busy in the free agent market.

Earlier this week the Power announced the signing of former University of Memphis defensive lineman Jada Brown, bringing their preseason roster to 24 players.

Teams in the Arena Football League are allowed to take 35 to training camp.

Brown (6'2", 275 lbs.) played semi-regularly for the Tigers for four seasons. The 25-year-old then enjoyed a brief stint with the AFL's Kansas City Command in 2010.

In addition, the Power finalized the contracts of defensive back Ahmaad Smith and wide receiver Carlos Suggs.

Suggs played sparingly at Ole Miss before a neck injury forced him to transfer to Clark University in Atlanta for his senior season. Smith is best known for becoming a finalist on the 2009 Spike TV reality series "4th and Long," hosted by Michael Irvin.

Those two had originally joined the team Oct. 12.

"Ahmaad is a special athlete who can compete man-to-man with all types of receivers," head coach Chris Siegfried said Monday. "Carlos and Jada have great physical tools, major conference college experience, and familiarity with the speed and the talent level of the AFL. We expect both of these players to make their presence felt."
