Man Struck By Vehicle In Verona Dies

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Officials say the man who was struck by a vehicle over the weekend in Verona has died.

Investigators say 63-year-old Vincent DeMartino was crossing Allegheny River Boulevard when he was hit by a driver coming down Center Avenue.

Police have arrested 56-year-old Joseph Zelek in connection with the case.

He has been charged with driving under the influence.

Following the accident, DeMartino was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital where he had been listed in critical condition.

Officials say he passed away overnight at the hospital. An autopsy has been scheduled for today.
