Neighbors Concerned About Fish Kill In Cecil Twp. Creek

CECIL TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- In Cecil Township, some neighbors are concerned after a fish kill appeared in a small stream along Creedmore Road.

Dozens of fish were spotted either dying or struggling to survive, including small fish and crayfish.

"It's unusual for all the people that lived here forever have never seen anything like this in this creek," Steve Hines said.

"We've swam in this creek and everything and now the sewage treatment plant's in here and all of a sudden we have a fish kill."

An emergency response team from the Department of Environmental Protection showed up and took water samples.

They will try to figure out if the fish kill is the from Cecil Township Municipal Water Authority facility or if it's the result of something that occurred naturally.

A call to the water authority wasn't returned.
