Man Hit By Car While Unloading Groceries In Wilkinsburg

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) -- A man was hospitalized overnight for leg injuries after he was struck by a car in Wilkinsburg.

The accident happened around 1:30 a.m. on Rebecca Avenue.

According to witnesses, the driver looked like she may have been reaching to something inside her BMW when she swerved and struck the man. Her car also hit a parked vehicle.

Officials say the man was unloading groceries from the back of his vehicle when he was hit.

"He was hopping around, jumping around, screaming, yelling, 'My leg, my leg,'" said Ed Kooser, a neighbor.

The man was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital for treatment. There is no word on his condition.

KDKA's Heather Abraham reports that the driver of the BMW could face traffic violations.
